Trapped inside our phones
The film should be shot from the phones viewpoint all the way up until the point
of the camera's destruction. This way when the camera is destroyed and the
filming goes to a conventional viewpoint it emphasises how the
character is now free from the chains of technology.
The phone camera filming in post production should have a wifi symbol and a battery symbol layered on-top to imply that we're viewing the character and the world through the screen of the phone: the character is constantly plugged in. This not only adds to the entrapment but will enable us also to put onto the screen his texts to push along the dialogue between the boy and the girl. This would have been one of the problems that would arise when filming something with no audio speech because the alternative would be filming the phone in the persons hand which would look tacky and unprofessional in my opinion. Either this text would come up directly on the screen or like in Sherlock style (see bellow) from behind the characters shoulder etc.
The filming would be a bit like this. This is me getting my phone from the windowsill in my room and walking down stairs with it, my face is devoid of warmth warped by dependence on technology unaware of whats around me. Note how when i go outside the world opens up but the character (me) does not.

One decision i am unsure of is if this
should all be filmed with the Blackmagic camera or if it would be better just
to use the phone camera's. Yes the latter would be easier but the main reason
for this decision is to add to the previously mentioned authenticity of a
technology filtered perception. The Blackmagic would have a better quality
image but do we really want this when often the whole point of hand-held cam is
to play with the scrappy nature of the quality of image and filming. It would
also mean that when at the end the man breaks free from his phone the image
becomes not only clearer and better quality but smoother, more organic and less
shaky ultimately giving a soothing release from the jerky cinematography.
This scene of me picking up my phone and walking downstairs and then outside could be cut with film from the front camera of my phone. This would show more clearly my hand opening doors if we wanted to express narrative of where i am going. It ends with me standing in a puddle - too zoned in on my phone ;)
