Passageway scene

We shot the passageway scene yesterday. As a group we came to the decision to shoot the film the conventional way not on the camera phone but using the BlackMagic camera with the standardised viewpoint. For the passageway scene I thought it would be good to shoot a long take of Max walking from the far end to the other where the camera was. This would be good at introducing Max as our protagonist as the audience would see him in the centre of the passageway and would be trying to lock onto his face. I took many takes with varying success because of the amount of people looking at the camera of ducking out the way. Originally I thought it would be good to take two sets of shots one with Max in the passageway full of other people and the other with absolutely no-one besides him. When he’s looking down at his phone there would be no-one around and when he looks up there would be a lot of people around. This would show how when he’s on his phone he’s isolated and distracted from what’s around him but when he looks up he’s overwhelmed at the sight of the world outside his phone.
