Tangerine

The Film 'Tangerine' directed by Sean Baker is almost a homage to the Iphone and coincidentally well timed with the celebration of Steve Jobs. It is all filmed on Iphones because of the budgeting and the way that they didn't have to use as many film members. Not only does this highlight how we can get good quality image with our phone camera scenes but also how this is exactly the route that we're going down now in our society. Tangerine is called the name it is after the colour of the sky in the film. Baker purposefully put this orangey filter on the film as its reminiscent of the relentless sunlight in LA where it is set. On the topic of colour i wonder if in our short film if we could incorporate a bluish haze over the film to add a sterile cleanliness to the cold future devoid of warm homely colours. The film Traffic makes good use of this colour transition by having scenes in different location in different colours, Mexico being yellow and the US being red for instance.
