Short film research, Blade Runner and location scouting
After our practical me and the team discussed more ideas for the film over coffee. We watched a few short films on youtube about the dawning concept of phone attachment. One film ended with the girls phone running out of battery walking into the open and looking confused and endangered facing the camera. This gave us the idea that we could have a scene like this at the end of ours which would contrast very well with the in phone camera filming. With ours we should give Max an empowering gaze. Here could be the first time he faces the camera, he's addressing the viewer. The gaze is transferred from being demeaning to Max enforced by the phone to onto us from a demeaning look into our eyes from Max. He is now free and is looking at us questioning if we are free. We then discussed our opening shot. We had the idea that we should have the opening credits displayed on people's phones's, one persons phone with e.g 'editor Charlotte' is displayed and the camera zooms into it untill its a fuzzy blackness before zooming out onto someone else's phone with e.g 'director Alice' on the screen and repeat. We should also have a shot of a city and adjust it in post production to make it seem as a much like a 'blade runner' dystopian future scene as possible perhaps with enhanced colour and effects.
We should also include in the beginning a shot down the corridor of the overpass above the Edward Boyle this (unsure about now) but at one point was the longest corridor in Europe and has been used in Stanley Kubricks Clockwork Orange which obviously also has a dystopian future theme.
I took some shots of the Roger Stevens/Edward Boyle Overpass and some other shots of buildings around which look futuristic and good for the film.
The Roger Stevens/Edward Boyle overpass the second photo replicates the kind of shot i want in the opening scene in this passage way - loads of people bustling past on their phones.
